The Athenian Players Present “Hamlet”

Dateline: October 22, 2018

Experience one of the greatest English language plays ever written – Shakespeare’s moving story of deceit and revenge, Hamlet, performed by the Athenian Players. Set in the kingdom of Elsinore, Denmark, Prince Hamlet seeks revenge on his uncle Claudius for both the murder of his father, King Hamlet, and Claudius’s ensuing succession to the throne and marriage to Gertrude, Hamlet’s mother.

Written in the late 16th century, Hamlet is a poignant tale of regicide, family feuds, broken hearts, and vengeful ghosts. It is considered one of the most powerful tragedies in the English language and is widely regarded as both the best of Shakespeare’s work and the perfect play.

Directed by Dr. Hugh Long, the play will run from November 8-10; 15-17 with performances at 7:30 pm each evening. The play runs approximately 2.5 hours. Tickets are on sale now.

Hamlet’s talented cast includes Richard Bransford as Hamlet, Dennis Marshall as Claudius, Laura Poe as Gertrude, Trent Thompson as Polonius, Chris Clark as Laertes, Meghan Swan as Ophelia, Jessie Carlton as Horatio, Ron Fritze as the Ghost, Jilya Gossett as Rosencrantz, and Rabia Siddiqui as Guildenstern.
