Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society Hosts Spring Initiation

The Rho Gamma Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi at Athens State University initiated twelve new members at a ceremony held in the Banquet Room of Sandridge Center on April 17, 2015. Professor Bonnie Heatherly, Chapter Counselor, Dr. Patricia Sims, Dean of the College of Education, and Ms. Haley Lewter, Chapter President, conducted the initiation ritual. Dr. Tom Sisk, Superintendent of Limestone County Schools, spoke to the initiates and assisted in the initiation.

The Society inducts only those individuals who have exhibited the ideals of scholarship, integrity in service, and commitment to excellence in teaching and its allied professions. Selection as a member of Kappa Delta Pi is based on high academic achievement, a commitment to education as a career, and a professional attitude that assures steady growth in the profession.

The new members are: Dr. Patricia G. Sims, Loren Hunter Bookout, Victoria Counce, TeAnna Jeffreys Counts, Ruby G. De La Pena, Elizabeth Nicole Hollaway, Mary Elizabeth Howell, Mallory Bauer Jackson, Aimee R. Jung, Priscilla Abbigail Pettit, Bridgette Ann Pylant, and Ashley Nicole Seals.

Bonnie Heatherly, Chapter Counselor, also presented Haley Lewter with an internship scholarship. Nancy Croomes was recognized for her service to the Rho Gamma Chapter.

Following the ceremony, a reception for new members and their guests was held in the Parlor of Founders Hall.
