The U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC) has invited Athens State University President Robert K. Glenn to serve as a member of their Alabama Advisory Committee. The invitation came from committee co-chairs The Honorable Josiah Bonner, U.S. House of Representatives 2003-2013, and The Honorable Jim Folsom, Jr., Governor of Alabama 1993-1995.
The USGLC is a broad-based influential network of 500 businesses and NGOs, and military, faith-based, and civic leaders united in support of U.S. global engagement. It works to educate the American public and policymakers on the importance of investing in diplomacy and development alongside defense in building a strategic, modern foreign policy.
The coalition is active across the country and includes such organizations and businesses as Lockheed Martin, Google, Caterpillar, Catholic Relief Services, Coca-Cola, GE, Mercy Corps, Microsoft, RTI International, Save the Children, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
As a member of the Alabama Advisory Committee, Glenn will lend his name in support of U.S. global leadership, support the efforts of USGLC to reach out locally to members of Congress to educate them about the importance of the International Affairs Budget, and assist the coalition to identify other key opinion leaders in the state.
“I admire the work done by the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition and I am happy to have this opportunity to serve on the Alabama Advisory Committee,” stated Glenn. “The Coalition’s work in building support for the International Affairs Budget is crucial in fostering positive global interactions and diplomacy.”
The USGLC Alabama Advisory Committee currently consists of a 47 member group of leaders from all areas of Alabama. Glenn’s committee appointment begins immediately.
