Cooperative Education

How to apply

To apply for Internships and Cooperative Education, you must be a student with at least a 2.5 GPA. You also need to have successfully completed one semester at Athens State University. You must not be in the final semester of your program.

How to Find an Internship or Cooperative Education position

The best way to find a position is to log into Handshake and complete your profile. Look at opportunities under “Jobs” and submit your resume if you meet the qualifications. You can also find an internship on your own without using Handshake. You may be able to count your job/internship for class credit in our Co-operative education class.

If you already have a job that you feel qualifies as a co-op or internship, call the Career Development Center staff to discuss.  All positions receiving academic credit must be approved by the Career Development Center and your Faculty Advisor.

In order to be considered for CO-OP opportunities, you must register on Handshake. The Co-op/ Intern Program Application can be found under the “Jobs” tab on Handshake. Upload your resume and have a faculty member complete the Faculty Recommendation Form. Once, you have completed the Co-op/ Intern Application, a staff member will contact you to set-up an appointment.
