Diane Hammond and Austin Ray received first and second places, respectively, for their student papers. Hammond also was recognized for her work in the Student Poster category.
Hammond’s first place winning paper was entitled Addicted or Irresponsible? She presented the paper that was contributed to by Athens State faculty members R. Bryan Kennedy, and Susan D. Herring.
Ray’s second place winning paper was entitled Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Versus the Court System. He presented the paper with contributions from Athens State faculty members R. Bryan Kennedy, Susan D. Herring, and Michael Essary.
Athens State faculty members also presented papers at the meeting. Those papers included: Examining Acquisition Education and Training: A case study. Charles R. Roberts (presenter), Susan D. Herring, and R. Bryan Kennedy. The General Manager’s Dilemma: A perfect storm of ethics violations: A case study. R. Bryan Kennedy, Susan D. Herring, Thomas Pieplow (presenter). Treason or Professional Responsibility? R. Bryan Kennedy, Susan D. Herring, Charles R. Roberts (presenter).
The Alabama Academy of Science was organized in 1924 with 40 charter members representing academic and governmental interests in science. In 2005 the membership consisted of more than 600 persons from all parts of the state. As science and technology have developed over the years, the Academy has broadened its activities and its influence, especially in research and education.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
