December 13, 2017
Athens State University was pleased to honor the first graduating class of the College of Business’s Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management Master’s Program at their Fall Commencement Ceremony on December 9, 2017. The inaugural class of six students received their degrees after participating in a traditional hooding ceremony during the commencement. This was the first graduate class to receive their Master’s Degree from Athens State since December 1971 when graduate programs were discontinued.
The Global Logistics & Supply Chain Management program has continued to grow over time and now has more than 60 students enrolled in the program. This was the first of three new graduate programs started at Athens State in recent years. Athens State will also be celebrating the graduation of the first Religious Studies and Career and Technical Education students in the coming years.
Also celebrated during the 2017 Fall Commencement were the graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business, and College of Education undergraduate programs. A separate ceremony was held for each respective college, with approximately 280 undergraduate students earning their degrees at the conclusion of the fall semester.
