APICS Student Chapter Attends National Conference

APICS 2018 National Conference

Dateline: October 15, 2018

Students and faculty from the Athens State University student chapter of APICS attended the 2018 APICS National Conference in Chicago from September 29 – October 2. APICS is the global leader and premier source of the body of knowledge in supply chain and operations management.

Keynote speakers such as Marc Randolph, Netflix Co-Founder, Executive Mentor and Angel Investor, and Connie Podesta, Expert in the Psychology of Leadership, Sales, and Change, shared their expertise with the event guests. The conference offered learning paths featuring more than 65 educational sessions covering all areas of the value chain: plan, source, make, deliver, return, and enable.

The Athens State APICS chapter offers students the opportunity to participate in these national conferences, serve in leadership positions, participate in community service projects, and network with school, local, and national chapter members. Students are also able to partner with the business professionals of the Tennessee Valley Chapter, which was recognized as a GOLD Award Winning Chapter by the organization’s national headquarters.

Through diligent work, students were able to raise funds throughout the past year to be able to attend the conference. The Tennessee Valley Chapter of APICS sponsored the students’ registration costs.  The student chapter of APICS is housed in the College of Business, and Dr. Mike Essary and Dr. Kim Roberts serve as advisors.
