Accounting Students Awarded Honorable Mention in CMA Video Contest

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The Athens State University Accounting Club was recently awarded an honorable mention (top ten placement) in a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) video contest held by Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).  The global contest was between many competitors to find creative ways to advertise the CMA.  Entries could focus on any aspect of the CMA, ranging from how the organization increases earning potential to how to study and prepare for the certification exam.

The student-produced Athens State video showed an employer considering resumes of two individuals, one with the CMA credential and one without it.  The video’s theme was “it pays to get CMA certified.”  In an email, the CMA organization told Professor Emily Corzine that there was an “overwhelming response of submissions” and that the selection process was a very difficult one for the judging committee.  The organization was very impressed by the Athens State student video and noted that it successfully captured the “You’ve Got to Earn It” theme.

The five Accounting Club student officers who participated in the video were (as pictured) Matthew Andrews, Jacob Perdue, Jeffery Vernon, Latasha Davis, and Stephanie Baldwin.  A special thanks goes to Curtis Cagle, Athens State University Technology Specialist, for assisting with recording and editing.  “We are very proud of the way these students devoted the extra time that was required for planning, preparing, recording, and editing,” said Professor Emily Corzine, Accounting Club Faculty Advisor.

The monetary prize received by Athens State IMA Student Chapter/Accounting Club from this award will help pay expenses of the educational meetings required to meet the IMA Gold Award of Excellence standards in the coming year.  For more information about the Athens State University Accounting Club, please contact Professor Emily Corzine at[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
