Aloha! I am a non-traditional student (that means I am old . . . er). As such, I thought my chance to do a study abroad semester had passed me by. Then, Athens State University posted information on a study abroad opportunity to Milan. So, I jumped at the chance. Personally, it doesn’t matter where the location is; because, I get the chance to study abroad. Even though it is a short course abroad, its length is perfect. I am taking the poetry class. While getting ready for the course and trip, I learned that Capri was a haunt for poets. I am an education major; I can think of several ways that a study abroad course can apply to the education field–experiential learning, language barriers, technology use, etc. We are going to learn in our courses; we are going to learn by going and doing! Awesome experiences to be had by all!
